Phosphor/bronze
strings are very popular for acoustic/electric guitars. Folk Steels
consist of silverplated copper wire wound on a layer of multi-filament
nylon over a steel core.

 Wound
strings sound the lower pitch notes. They consist of wrap wire lightly
coiled around a core wire. Nickel plated steel, the most popular, produces
a well balanced all around good sound. Stainless steel provides a brighter
sound. Pure nickel, some believe gives a richer, fuller sound. Plain
strings sound the higher pitch notes. They are made of a specially
tempered high carbon steel wire. They are used as first, second, and often
third strings.

OTHER:
 Black
Coated Strings were developed by using the winding technology of
orchestral strings. They will allow musicians to play three to four times
longer. You will see wear of the strings as well as having an indicator of
when to replace them. Flatwound electric guitar strings combine the silky
smooth feel of highly polished flatwire with the long lasting
performance of the highest grade of stainless steel. |

ABOUT GUITAR LESSONS
Nylon
is extruded in molten form; this process yields material that can vary in
diameter by plus or minimum one thousandth of an inch. Though this
difference is only about one fourth the thickness of a human hair,
professionally trained classical guitarists can sense the contrast in
string tension when the diameter varies by small amounts.
