Charles Watson & Hollow Council Band Clinch 51 weeks on AAA Radio Charts

“Stop Wasting My Time” and “Stuffed Suits”, two singles off the 2008 album titled Time For Change by the Alternative Rock band Charles Watson & Hollow Council, have stayed on AAA radio charts for a whopping “43 weeks” straight, announced their label executive producer, Robert Metzgar on November 5, 2008. That was 8 weeks ago but it isn’t old news. To date, Charles Watson & Hollow Council’s album Time For Change has now been charted for 51 weeks, and still going strong. This kind of run for a brand-spanking-new band with their first album released August, 2008  is this Happy New Year’s Day record-breaking news.

Apache Junction, Arizona, January 1, 2009 – Charles E. Watson, a classical guitarist, is doing something new in the business of music. He’s making the classical guitar popular in arenas of rock genre listeners. This isn’t an easy crowd to please. The music either rocks or it doesn’t, regardless of sub-genre appeal; and there are as many interpretations of what that means as there are rockers. Multiply that by 51 weeks charted on AAA radio airwaves and you’ve got a lot of listeners across global spectrums liking what they hear from Charles Watson and his band, Charles Watson & Hollow Council.

Two singles off the 2008 music album, Time For Change, on Platinum Plus Records, Nashville, “Stop Wasting My Time” and "Stuffed Suits”, have continued to be charted for airplay on AAA radio stations for 51 weeks straight, to date.//

This music has everything, including sticky hooks and licks that stay in your head, full-speed-ahead scaling you can’t believe is really happening, grinding groovy crunches, “Iron Dog” Dunham’s haunting vocals of uniquely crafted lyrics with harmony and other vocal backups from guitarist and bassist, Josh’s aces and eights driving anchor bass on "Stop Wasting My Time" and Watson on his fretless Alembic bass on "Stuffed Suits". Johnson's exquisite drumming on the recordings are performed in the live band by Shane Walker, a top power-house drummer. So one of the stories goes, and of these, there are many, while rocking-out in the crowd, the band was playing “Stop Wasting My Time”, a chic leaned over and yelled, “This is the music I’ve waited all my life to hear.”

The current success of Watson’s entry into the mainstream rock music market with his classical guitar, superb songwriting and arrangements and first-rate band, is in the numbers. 51 weeks straight of AAA radio charting is record-breaking.  As Watson says, “It’s not supply and demand. It’s demand and supply. I think it’s natural for people to demand art as well as entertainment and I feel really good about the great reception the music on this album is receiving.”

Time For Change Album by Charles Watson & Hollow Council Band on Platinum Plus Records, Nashville Charts 43 Weeks on AAA Radio

Still number one. Charles Watson & Hollow Council album Time For Change has stayed on the AAA radio charts for 43 weeks, announced today by the album's executive producer, Robert Metzgar, today.

Apache Junction, Arizona, November 5, 2008 – When news comes straight from the desk of the Holy Grail incarnate Guru of the music industry, you'd better believe something important is happening.  Classical guitarist, Charles E. Watson, Jr. found his mentor in Nashville when he said he wanted to blow-out the mainstream rock genre with his new brand of guitar playing and an alternative rock band. Legends Hall of Fame Producer, along with a plethora of just as impressive and significant inductions and titles, Robert Metzgar, didn't blink. And that was just the beginning.

The resulting album, Time For Change. Two of its tunes, "Stop Wasting My Time" and "Stuffed Suits", have rocked the AAA charts to record-breaking heights with 43 weeks of play. According to the buzz on such things, there are three main factors that boost today's music sales. One is the live performances of the artist(s). Two, is the promotions of the same. Three is AAA radio play. Did Charles Watson & Hollow Council hit the jack pot? They're three for three and still going strong.

"Stop Wasting My Time", said M. E. Kibler,  lyricist of this song, in an informal interview at Solidspace Studio, "Is metaphor." The music and vocal delivery are impassioned.

"Stuffed Suits" is a fantastic mix of progressive rock and protest-style social commentary a little punked out. Just one spoiler is that this song features a cleverness that draws you right into the call and response male chorus chant, "Stuffed Suits".

Platinum Plus Records, Nashville “Time For Change” Album Beats 2008 Presidential Candidates to the Slogan Punch

“Time For Change”, a song off Platinum Plus Records, Nashville, new recording artist's album, Time For Change, says it all for this Presidential election cycle's theme. Everybody wants to claim "they" are the agent of change. But Charles Watson, Arizona classical guitarist, beat them all to the punch and is this Happy New Year’s Day record-breaking news.

Apache Junction, Arizona, January 1, 2008 – Last September 2007, the first US Presidential nominee ad to run with the 'agent of change' theme was from the Hillary Clinton camp launching advertisements in Iowa and New Hampshire. Since then, everyone in the race has followed suit trying to come up with a different way to say that 'they' are the one to initiate 'change'. A year ago, Charles Watson, Arizona classical guitarist, had already announced the title of his new album would be Time For Change and had begun composing his title song, "Time For Change".

Maybe that was prophetic of Watson. Maybe he was way ahead of the wave.  Who knew what the year 2007 would usher in? Charles Watson was all about doing something new in the world of rock music, bringing the classical guitar into a genre where no one had ever ventured, to showcase new techniques and direction for new sounds and ideas. The title song, Time For Change, is an extreme classical guitar instrumental of deep passion and moving

passages of contemplative extravaganzas of guitar work. Anyone interested in change they can believe in? Check out Watson's Time For Change. ...//

Watson and Dunham The Songwriters

The super songwriting duo: conversation with Charles Watson and Chris Dunham

For those who are into song writing and songwriters, here's a short list of some of the greatest songwriting duos: Ashford & Simpson, Barrere & Payne, Barry & Greenwich , Becker & Fagen, Berry (Chuck) & Johnson, Bono & Edge, Bourdeleaux & Bryant, Boyce & Hart, Brown & Squire, Buckingham & Nicks, Coffin & King, Comden & Greene, David & Bacharach, Ellington & Strayhorn, Gamble & Huff, Garcia & Hunter, Gilbert & Sullivan, Hall & Oates, Harry & Stein, Hayes (Isaac) and Porter (David), Henley & Frey, Hidalgo & Perez, Jagger & Richards, John (Elton) & Taupin, Johnson & Baughman, Lerner & Loewe, Lieber & Stoller, Louvin & Louvin, Mann & Weil, Marr & Morrissey, McCartney &Lennon, Metheny & Mays, Michael & Ridgley, Morrissey & Marr, Parsons & Hillman, Petty & Campbell, Plant & Page, Pomus & Shuman, Rodgers (Richard) & Hammerstein, Rodgers (Richard) & Hart (Lorenz), Schlesinger & Collingwood, Sherman (Robert & Richard), Simmons & Stanley, Stewart & Wood, Strummer & Jones, Tennant & Lowe, Tillbrook & Difford, Timmins & Timmins, Ulvaeus & Andersson, Waits & Brennan, Waller & Razaf , Waters & Gilmour, Wilson & Love, Yorke & Greenwood ... and among these greats, I would like to add another songwriting duo to the list: Watson & Dunham...//

Honing-in the lyric and musical hook is a particularly strong feature characteristic of the songs on the Time For Change album, but they aren't contrived ... the music, the instrumentation, the lyrics, the attitude and style simply work. To those who engage songwriting, there are gems and then, there are mutherloads. This song writing duo, Charles Watson and Chris Dunham, struck a vein and the riches of their labors are displayed in these recordings. // Another distinction of this songwriting duo is that Watson and Dunham co-write the lyrics and vocal melodies. Watson has a keen gift for designing sounds with the kind of mainstream connection that prompts thinking of a particular tune in response to notions encountered in everyday living. A 'favorite' song is defining moments one wants to keep experiencing over and over. Then the next song starts playing and that's your favorite song. Then the next and the next. // Dunham has a particular gift for parsing a turn of words that says something ordinary in un-ordinary ways.

"Charles and I tweak the words ... we sculpt them," Dunham said at a recent stage show in Scottsdale, AZ, just before launching into a song with lyrics they had been polishing for over three months. //

The 2008 album, Time For Change, recorded by the band, Charles Watson & Hollow Council, showcases the songwriting duo of Watson and Dunham on a  first excursion into teaming up to write intriguing songs. //
